Over the years, there have been too many insane Game of Thrones wardrobe (or lack of) moments to count— from Daenerys rising naked from a sea of flames to Jon Snow’s iconic IKEA rug cloak to Cersei Lannister’s bell sleeves extending the width of her skirts...

To anything Margaery Tyrell wore, ever.

Fictional Style Icon: Margaery Tyrell

Margaery’s style spoke to me from the very first second I saw her on screen. Each gown she wore was so dramatically beautiful, but also so much more modern than her peers. Her costumes are uniquely Margaery and represent her heritage and personality: a young woman described to be as clever as she is pretty. Her wardrobe is filled to the brim with luxurious jacquard fabrics in blues and golds that could give all the ladies of Westeros a run for their money.

With plunging necklines, low-scooping backs and cutouts galore, Cersei Lannister may have seen Margaery’s fashion choices as that if a “harlot,” but I saw a fascinating, complex woman with values that differ from other kingdoms, or how the A.V. Club once so fittingly put it, “the noblewoman who uses the confines of being a courtly lady to advance her own agenda.”

Margery, much like my choice from two weeks ago, Tahani, appeals to the romantic in me, no matter how small that part may be. There will always be a tiny part of my heart yearning to trade in the sleekness of all black everything for pastel colors and flowy damask print dresses— that same part that realizes just how easy it would be to take a little inspiration from her style. Perhaps this spring will be the time to try something new!

But, most importantly, she appeals to the part* of me that wants to live in a matriarchal society in a giant garden and look fabulous while doing it.
